Hacking

Hacking is a great way to experience horse riding outside of the riding school and into the local countryside. We have a selection of lovely horses for our clients to ride and offer hacking options from beginners to advanced riders. Our one-hour hacks are the most popular option which takes riders local around country lanes and bridleways. This ride would include trotting and cantering depending on the prevailing conditions and rider experience.

For more experienced horse riders wanting a longer hack to explore the countryside and nature parks, our two-hour horse hacks (about 2 hours 20 minutes) offer a great alternative. Through local roads we venture onto the South Downs bridleway system; heathland, rolling hills and woodland in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Some routes take us to the panoramas of the Kingley Vale nature reserve and others through the woodlands and meadows of Stansted Park.

To accommodate lead rein or novice adults and children who are not yet competent enough to go out hacking but would like to experience the freedom of riding outside of the confines of the menage, we offer walkouts. Walkouts are like mini hacks for half an hour or an hour around local village lanes which are escorted and depending on age/experience, the rider’s horse may be led by hand.

All horse rides are escorted with a maximum number of six. For safety reasons, the pace of the ride is geared to the least experienced rider. Riding hats and boots are available to borrow (no trainers or sandals). Please remember to dress appropriately for the conditions. Florescent tabards are provided and must be worn.
